I am a neurologist, writer, and researcher specializing in neurodegenerative diseases. Clinically, I care for patients living with brain disorders.

My research focuses on the genetic and epidemiologic factors associated with the development and progression of Parkinson’s disease, as well on important issues in neuroethics and bioethics such as the responsible use of AI, electronic medical records, genetic testing and deep brain stimulation.

I am very interested in the the way physicians use language to communicate with patients, and how this can be improved upon.

I frequently write about the brain, public health, the culture of medicine, and the human stories woven throughout.
